GUEST BEER // FLYING DOG INTERNATIONAL ARMS RACE

Posted by Mark in Guest Beer Reviews

In this section of the website you will find concise reviews of some of our interesting guest beers.

FLYING DOG INTERNATIONAL ARMS RACE – Keg (7.5%)

OVERVIEW The challenge between Flying Dog (USA) and Brewdog (UK) was to brew a 7.5% IPA with no hops, instead bitterness and flavour was injected by the use of spearmint, bay leaves, rosemary, juniper berries, and elderflower. A Zero IBU IPA?!?!?

APPEARANCE Hazy amber with a brief head of beige froth.

AROMA The aroma is very floral not unlike a bowl of potpourri, those foam banana sweets, a crack of black pepper. A tart acidity and sourness but all so somewhat like a sparkling rose wine.

TASTE Cutting bitter lemon, a hint of fresh ginger, apricot, sour apples and lots of juniper. Certainly moving towards a Berliner Weisse but the combination of sweet and sour is a bit like a Gin & Tonic.

VERDICT A very unique beer that will challenge your perception of beer. Unlike anything you’ve ever had.
